James Simms

James is based in Farnborough and is the creator of The EverLearner. His goal is to provide the best opportunity possible to every student possible, and he continues to be the strategic lead and inspiration. A teacher with over 20 years' experience, James has worked in five different schools and colleges, specialising in PE. In 2002, he met fellow teacher, Marta (also part of The EverLearner Team), and together they share two teenage girls. His favourite hobbies include: cycling, learning foreign languages and playing sports 🚴. He is one of very few people in the world who, as a non-native, speaks Catalan fluently, but actually doesn’t speak that much Spanish!
Specialist Subjects: PE (KS3-KS5), Biology and German
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Sport Science from Universty of Gloucestershire; PGCE with Distinction from University of Gloucestershire.
Marta is a Director at The EverLearner, and also partner to James. Originally from Barcelona, she moved to the UK in 2002. She brings five years' teaching experience to the team, specialising in Modern Foreign Languages. She joined The EverLearner team as she believed that a different way of teaching and learning was possible and wanted to help make this dream a reality. Based in Farnborough, Marta is mum to two teenage girls and enjoys making her own clothes 👗. Marta can also touch the tip of her nose with her tongue!
Specialist Subjects: Spanish (KS3-KS5) and French (KS3)
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Translation and Interpreting (English, Spanish, French and Catalan) from Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona); PdDip in Translating and Conference Interpreting from Heriot-Watt University; PGCE in MFL teaching with Distinction from Reading University.
Elle joined The EverLearner team in 2018, having previously worked with Marta in Berkshire. She has over 10 years' teaching experience, specialising in Modern Foreign Languages. Elle joined The EverLearner team seeking a challenging and rewarding role, where she could directly impact teachers and students. Elle spent her childhood living in France but is now based in Southampton and is mum to two young children. She is fond of reading, hiking and is a keen runner. Elle has a very eclectic taste in music ranging from Albinoli’s Oboe Concerti (she was a keen oboist herself and once performed at the Royal Albert Hall), to the French DJ and electronic musician Worakls 🎶!

Qualifications: BA (Hons) Spanish and Portuguese from University of Southampton; PGCE in MFL teaching with Distinction from the University of Southampton.
Mark joined The EverLearner team in 2018, after reading about the team on Twitter. He is a specialist in both Computer Science and Science, with over 24 years' teaching experience. He connected with The EverLearner team because he wanted to further the impact that he could have in the field of instructional design and online course development. He also runs The Computing Café website for computer science resources. Based in Crewe, Mark is father two teenage boys and three cats and enjoys programming, vintage cars, DIY, vintage computers, games consoles, calculators, vintage tech, and more 💻. Mark is also the lead singer in a jazz band and plays the drums - he even has an album on Soundcloud!
Specialist Subjects: Computer Science (KS3-KS5), Science (KS3-KS5)
Qualifications: BSc Computational Chemistry from UMIST in Manchester; PGCE in Science Teaching from MMU.
Hannah joined The EverLearner team in 2024. Before joining the team, Hannah was Head of PE in Cambridgeshire and has over 10 years' teaching experience, specialising in PE. Hannah loves all kinds of sports. As well as playing tennis and hockey, she has also recently learned to boulder, belay and climb. She also enjoys travelling the world to watch as much live sport as possible. Recently she has watched the Rugby World Cup in France, Ice Hockey in Sweden and football matches in the German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and the Spanish La Liga. To this date, Hannah has visited 41 different countries and is always aiming to see more!
Specialist subjects: PE (KS3-KS5)
Qualifications: BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Sciences from University of Birmingham, PGCE in PE teaching and MA in Education from the University of Bedfordshire, NPQ in Leading Teacher Development.
Natasha joined The EverLearner team in 2015 (when it was known as myPEexam) after being approached by James, who was looking for an experienced and flexible administrator. Natasha lives in Norfolk with her partner and two children, and she enjoys spending time with family and friends. Natasha can be a bit of a thrill-seeker. She has done not one, but two skydives (one in Australia, the other in New Zealand) and she has also been bungee jumping ☁️!
Qualifications: BA (Hons) in Business Administration from Derby University.
